More to grove

Grove Productions began as a film production company and then branched into theatre prior to venturing into educational theatre.
We are incredibly proud of our other projects and want to give them a platform they deserve.
As Grove grows, so do our performers, writers and creators. The projects shown below are proof of this and we can't wait to bring these and others back to the stage and screen in the future.

Super/Normal

Written by Joy-Amy Wigman

The UK’s premier team of Superheroes have suddenly lost their superpowers. Forced to attend 'Normal Club', at the local Job Centre, they must learn how to reintegrate into society by way of a government scheme.

Super Normal was performed as part of a selection of other short plays in the summer of 2023 across Cheltenham and Malvern and then independently at the Cheltenham Fringe Festival in 2024.

It received fantastic reviews and is currently in writing development as a tv pilot.

"Other Short Plays"

Written by Joy-Amy Wigman

15 Minute Call

It is 15 minutes before the show starts and Movie Star (and leading man), Robert Dulcimer, is nowhere to be found. The understudy is in the hospital and the director is about to explode. If only there were someone else who knew the words.

Cake

It’s Susan’s Birthday, and she is all on her own. Except for the
presenters of her favourite TV shows, of course. They are always
there to make her feel better. Although today, they are starting to

get a little bit too close for comfort.

Mannequin Piece

Faced with the prospect of meeting her bestie’s new boyfriend, Anna’s social anxiety is through the roof. When her flat mate brings a mannequin home from work, Anna sees the opportunity for a little bit of…practice.

Message from the author:

"The ethos of Super/Normal and Other Plays was to enable people to talk about potentially tricky subjects through comedy. The short play format also gives performers like myself (with invisible and chronic conditions) the chance to perform without burning themselves out, while also doing the same for an audience that may have difficulty focusing for long periods of time."

Written by Paul Avery

Set in the border country between England and Wales, a land of ancient myths and powerful traditions. Calon Lan pays homage to great folk horror films from the Wickerman to the VVitch with brutal murders, strange rituals and human sacrifice. The film is also an allegory for the fight of the silent majority against patriarchal systems that have persisted since the dawn of time. One night in one wood. Who can be trusted? Who will win? And who will survive the night?
